Research Study: Volunteers Needed
We seek to identify and evaluate the environmental and workplace exposures using comprehensive exposome analysis methods and the combination of metabolomics data to identify occupational exposures that may impact human health. Join this study to help further research on the exposome and learn more about your own exposures in your home and workplace.
What is the exposome?
The exposome refers to the measure of all the exposures a person experiences in their lifetime and how these exposures affect one’s health. An individual’s exposome begins even before birth and includes exposures from many sources–such as diet and lifestyle. The exposome of a person is highly variable and dynamic. Studying how the exposures interact with our body helps us understand the health impact of the exposome.
Why participate?
We hypothesize people are exposed to various environmental exposures at home and work that may affect health.
Participants will receive a detailed analysis of their exposure results at the end of the study.
The study involves: completing short online surveys, collecting a blood microsampling kit every 4 months, and carrying a device called a personal exposome tracker (PET – 4 total at a time). The PET will be placed in various parts of your home and workplace for 2 weeks at a time and collect data through its filter cassette. The PET was designed in our lab and we will use it to measure your exposure to the different PM, temperature, humidity levels, as well as collect GPS information.
